VOLUNTEERING FOR PITTSBURGH IRISH FESTIVAL

This year's 20th Anniversary Pittsburgh Irish Festival is September 10th, 11th, and 12th. As most of you know by now, we moved three years ago to the Riverplex in West Homestead right next door to Sandcastle and close to Kennywood Park. There were also a number of changes related to the volunteers. The Pittsburgh Irish Festival now handles everything related to the site including oversight of the front gate and beverage stands. This will give us more flexibility and a need for many more volunteers.

We are also offering some incentives for anyone who signs up and brings new volunteers with them. For example, if you sign up and bring 1 new volunteer you may get free raffle tickets or a CD of Irish music. If you sign up and bring 2 new volunteers you may get a voucher for a free meal from our Irish Food Booth. Come to the Volunteer Party on Wednesday, September 8 at Mullaney's Harp and Fiddle and you'll hear all about the new opportunities.

Below is the volunteer sign-up form to download for the 20th Anniversary Pittsburgh Irish Festival. Also below is a volunteer waiver form for download that should be completed with your emergency contact information, signed, and returned with your completed volunteer sign-up form. We will go over all of this at the volunteer orientation. Please fill out the volunteer form with your work preferences and return the completed forms to me. If you have a preference for a shift or area of work, send your forms in ASAP.

Once the volunteer schedule has been finalized, I will e-mail you and confirm your volunteer shift date, time, and work area. You can expect to hear from me the first week of September. It is extremely helpful to me if you can include an e-mail address that you will be checking that week. I can then send you an e-mail confirmation and save a phone call. Although I love talking to everyone, it gives me a lot more flexibility when I can send an e-mail. Make sure to print your e-mail address clearly on your volunteer form.

VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION PARTY

The orientation will be important this year due to all of the changes. Please try to attend. We will review the various job duties for each area and discuss details regarding this year’s festival. If you have volunteered in the past, wear one of your volunteer T-shirts. It will be fun to see the designs from all the different years.
