The Pittsburgh Irish Festival is pleased to announce that planning is underway for the 30th Annual Pittsburgh Irish Festival, occurring on September 10-12, 2021 at The Lots of Sandcastle. The three-day outdoor festival will be held in-person and with health and safety as the top priority.
The Pittsburgh Irish Festival remains committed to furthering its mission of preserving and promoting the Irish culture through music, dance, food, education, and more and will do so again this year with all recommended safety guidelines and restrictions in place.
Guidelines, all tentative and subject to change as needed, include but are not limited to, reduced capacity, enhanced cleaning, mask wearing, and social distancing. Details related to health and safety will be regularly updated and released in full closer to the Festival and the planning team is in touch regularly with the Allegheny County Health Department.
“At this point in time, we are feeling confident that we can hold the Festival in-person in September, and do so safely,” says Mairin Petrone, Pittsburgh Irish Festival Executive Director. “We are watching the situation closely and are consulting with health experts on a regular basis to make sure every necessary precaution is put into place. The Irish (and our friends) are a resilient and adaptable group, so we hope folks will save the date, and be on the lookout for frequent announcements from our team!”
In addition to the planning for health and safety at the event, the team at the Pittsburgh Irish Festival are working on bringing a phenomenal line-up of entertainers including Gaelic Storm and Screaming Orphans, safely serving all Festival favorite foods featuring Irish Stew, Bread Pudding, Fish and Chips, and Shepherd’s Pie, and providing fun and educational programming for all ages!
The Pittsburgh Irish Festival is also exploring options for virtual offerings for those not yet comfortable attending an in-person event.
